Abstinence & Contraceptive Education

The abortion debate remains at the forefront of American politics, with passionate arguments on both sides. While no abortion is ideal, we acknowledge that unwanted pregnancies are a real issue that requires thoughtful and balanced debate. The Life and Liberty Party takes the position that education on abstinence and contraceptive use is the most relevant and effective approach to addressing unwanted pregnancies.

We understand that some in the religious right advocate for banning abortion and, in some cases, even contraceptives. Their stance, while rooted in deeply held beliefs, often fails to address a critical question: how will we, as a society, deal with unwanted pregnancies? We recognize that human beings are fallible, and despite the best efforts at prevention, unwanted pregnancies will occur.

The question is not simply whether abortion should be banned, but how we will handle the reality of unwanted pregnancies if abortion and contraception are restricted. Will those who advocate for banning these options seek to force women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term in constrained circumstances, without regard to their autonomy or well-being?

The Life and Liberty Party advocates for a more compassionate and realistic approach. Rather than focusing on punitive measures or restrictions, we support proactive education. Teaching abstinence alongside comprehensive contraceptive education can reduce unwanted pregnancies while respecting the freedom of individuals to make informed choices.

Our approach is grounded in the understanding that while we strive for ideals, we must also acknowledge human realities. By empowering individuals with knowledge and options, we can work toward a society where fewer unwanted pregnancies occur, and where women are not forced into difficult circumstances without support.
